Sham-e-Ghariban is a mourning night for Shia Muslims. Sham means night, and Ghariban means poor or oppressed; thus, this night remarks sacrifice and tolerance of the oppressed people of Ahlebait in Karbala. On this night, people light candles and wish for their loved ones.
